A battle that ended in a draw: Camioneros de Coslada 7 – Zaragoza Hurricanes 7
In an intense LNFA Serie A, Western Conference matchup, Camioneros de Coslada and Zaragoza Hurricanes played to a 7-7 draw at Valleaguado Sports Center on January 31st at 3:30 PM. Although American football does not always reward ties, this result reflects the balance and effort displayed on the gridiron under ideal weather conditions. The game featured a growing atmosphere in the stands, energized by local announcer Christian Pérez and the show put on by the Soldiers All Star cheerleading squad, who made a highly impactful debut.
Both teams arrived with clear objectives: the Hurricanes aimed to consolidate their momentum after a narrow loss to Osos Rivas and a convincing win over Mariners; meanwhile, Camioneros sought to put behind them a tight defeat against Osos (decided by just a yard and a half) and earn their first home victory.
However, the game proved extremely tough and highly tactical. The challenging field conditions hindered fluid play, with dominant defenses prevailing over mostly ground-based and imprecise offenses, resulting in numerous penalties and very low scoring.
After a scoreless first quarter, Camioneros took the lead in the second thanks to a spectacular run by Mexican running back Eduardo Mayen, who broke through the defensive line from his own 20-yard line, bounced outside, and finished in the end zone. Iván García added the extra point (7-0).
Before halftime, visiting quarterback Juan Baró responded with a strong drive that ended in an outside run, tying the game.
The second half became a true trench battle. Zaragoza’s defense stood firm against the run, while local aerial connections from Sergio Barbero to receivers such as the “Ivanes” García and Jordanov, and tight end Adrián Escudero “Caillou,” failed to generate decisive gains.
The Hurricanes’ offense was contained by the pressure from the Camioneros defensive line, led by an outstanding Nicolás Ronchel. In the final drive, penalties forced Camioneros to punt from their own territory, giving Hurricanes one last chance: a 48-yard field goal attempt that fell short, bringing relief to the home sideline and crowd.
This 7-7 draw, while falling short of Camioneros’ expectations for a win, keeps their chances intact in a highly competitive Western Conference. The blue team shows resilience and the ability to compete at the highest level.
Blue Pride! Time to stay on the road with the same intensity.
